Thanks to ETC- Enterprise Training Ltd for having me over to chat to a great group of motivated youths who are completing the Transition to Work program. We had such an engaging morning talking about all things to do with nutrition.
The more I chat with people about nutrition, the more I realise how confused people are by mass media and marketing campaigns. Nutrition does not need to be confusing and complicated. During our session we spoke about consumerism and marketing and how that is having a huge impact on our society’s health. We spoke about diets and the latest trends, I had questions coming my way about paleo, keto, low carb, no carb diets. We got into the scientific facts about carbohydrates and identified the difference between and what is a simple carbohydrate and what is a complex carbohydrate.
Debunking fats is always a very interesting discussion, as it does come down to the science and the structure of the fat. Fat isn’t just fat, there are many types of fats and some fats are essential for our health whilst others can have a detrimental effect on our health. Anyway, it was an awesome session, to have an engaged audience is a positive outcome.
We also got to cook and eat some delicious food. Last week’s feast was a Thai Beef Salad.
I believe it got the thumbs up!
